Subscriptions and renewals
A subscription is the recurring half of what you sold: a managed-service contract, a block of SaaS seats, a software licence. Subscriptions in the Sales rail lists them with the company, the kind, the vendor, the amount and billing frequency, the end date and the status.
What one holds
Section titled “What one holds”- Kind — software, SaaS, licence, support contract or managed service.
- Vendor and product — who it’s from, when it’s something you resell.
- Quantity and recurring amount, with a billing frequency of monthly, quarterly, annual or one-time.
- Start and end dates.
- Auto-renew — whether it rolls over on its own.
- Status — active, cancelled or expired.
A subscription can point at the opportunity that created it, at the config item it corresponds to in the CMDB, and at the opportunity that will renew it.
Renewals
Section titled “Renewals”The end date is the thing this page exists for. A subscription with an end date coming up is either a renewal conversation or a lapse, and the difference is whether anyone noticed.
Creating a renewal opportunity links it back to the subscription, so the deal knows what it’s renewing. When you fulfil that won deal, the existing subscription’s end date moves out — you don’t get a second subscription for the same thing. See The pipeline.
Auto-renew is a fact about the contract, not an instruction to the app: it tells you this one rolls over unless somebody cancels it, which is a different kind of deadline from one that lapses in silence.
Coverage on tickets
Section titled “Coverage on tickets”A ticket’s Coverage panel reads from here. It answers “is this customer entitled to the support they’re asking for”, and it shows both states — covered, with what and until when; or not covered — because a missing panel and an uncovered customer must not look the same.
It’s advisory. Coverage never blocks a reply, a timer or a state change. It’s information for the agent, not a gate.
Expiry alerts from the CMDB
Section titled “Expiry alerts from the CMDB”Config items can carry date attributes marked for expiry alerts — a licence expiry, a renewal date. That’s the other half of the same job, for things tracked as kit rather than as contracts. See The CMDB.
